There are times that I really do want to clone myself so I can be in more than one place at a time… and one of those times was when I was already booked on the date that these two got married ten years ago. I WAS SO SAD. But here we are, ten years later and I am getting to document this chapter of their love. A love that has grown, evolved and become more comfortable over time. I am so proud of these two and the way they love others, each other and themselves. What a beautiful example.

If you follow me (Ashley) on social media you might remember that this past fall I had to make a quick move when I got kicked out of my rental house so they could tear it down and build a fancy house in it’s place. At the time I was NOT thrilled about a sudden move in the middle of busy season but let me tell you, I have LOVED my new place. One of the best parts is that I’ve got some incredible neighbors, including this sweet family! They were some of the first to welcome me to the neighborhood and I’ve had the best time getting to know them as they wait for their newest addition to arrive!! Crystal is due any day now so let’s send her all the healthy, safe wonderful birth story vibes we can!

The way we choose to photograph people is collaborative. We want to get to know you, learn little things about you and your loved ones in order for us to photograph you well and authentically. The beautiful thing about story photoshoots is that I get to go deeper with you about who you are and how you want to express that in your photos. I met Stephanie at a wedding that I was photographing and we connected on Facebook. I loved seeing the photoshoots she would do where she would set up her camera in a park and create whimsical images in these beautiful dresses.

When Stephanie reached out and asked to do a shoot with me, I was so honored. I knew that establishing trust would be important, since this was a way that Stephanie usually expresses herself alone. Ahead of time we talked about her vision, the outfits she had chosen, what she was looking for in a location. During the shoot we collaborated about poses, different spots, etc. It was just such a lovely afternoon capturing this important part of Stephanie’s self expression. This little dreamboat turned one, and his mama had the sweet idea to have me do a little mini shoot with him to celebrate and commemorate. It was a pretty chilly morning, but as you can see little man was not phased at all! He’s already getting pretty good at mini shoots with me, which is so sweet as this family are some of my most regulars…
